South Georgia
In the summer of 2014 I was invited to visit South Georgia. This was a real privilege and allowed me time to explore some of the island which I wouldn’t normally have opportunity to visit during the normal course of my work when I visit the island on board the RRS James Clark Ross.
I would like to thank the staff of the South Georgia government, the British Antarctic Survey wintering team of 2014. And special thanks to Jo Cox who invited me to the island.
‘Strange. There is always sadness on departure. It is as if one cannot bear to leave this bleak waste of ice, glaciers, cold & toil....’
